We recently caught up with designer Carly Cushnie in celebration of her new collaborative jewelry collection with Starling, a thoughtful and ethically-sourced jeweler here in LA that we adore.
As former devotees of Carly’s namesake fashion brand, Cushnie, which sadly closed shop during the pandemic, we’re paying special attention to everything the stylish creative undertakes lately. Carly’s effortlessly chic take on what modern women want to wear has been enjoyed by the likes of Beyoncé, Michelle Obama, Rihanna, and Blake Lively, and has inspired countless women to pull off a bit of glamour in her (surprisingly) comfortable looks.
Here’s everything Carly is wearing lately, how she takes her very TCM-approved coffee, and more about the new jewelry collection…
Name: Carly Cushnie
My style in 3 words: Sleek, soft, and sensual.
Favorite piece in my closet: A black vintage Biba jumpsuit my Mum wore the night she met my Dad.
Projects lately: I have loved collaborating on my first jewelry collection with Starling, inspired by the mixing of East and West coasts and cultures. Everything is made consciously, with recycled metals and recycled and sustainably-sourced diamonds and aquamarine stones. I have some other exciting upcoming projects that I can’t share just yet, but lots of things are bubbling!
Helping me stay sane lately… Liquid Calm by The Well, acupuncture, Chani app.
Signature scent: Van Cleef & Arpels, Gardenia Petale
Trends I’m loving lately: Beige

Tell us about the collab with Starling... It’s dreamy, timeless, and elegant. Thoughtfully made in the beautiful way Chelsey makes all of her jewelry. Inspired by looking forward and beyond horizons to wear everyday.

Favorite advice for women in business: Get a great mentor, a great coach, and a great therapist.
