Moving On Out

Lots of exciting things going on this week as Bloom closes doors and we move out of our house!!

We Are Moving On Out!

It’s moving week!! I’ve spent the past 2 months moving things to our basement so our top two floors can undergo a pretty large renovation. If you missed it, we’re taking over our one-car garage with a new kitchen, pantry, and mudroom, and we’re extensively renovating our primary suite on the top floor to include a dormer with lots of windows, new layout for the bedroom and closets, and a bathroom reno (adding a dormer in there too).

People keep asking me why we are “moving.” We’re moving to a rental house for 6 months while this whole shindig goes down! Everything is getting touched from refinishing the floors to new paint to new windows, so there was no way we could have lived here while it happens.

Moving Day is Wednesday/Thursday, so follow along on Instagram stories for that!

I secretly love moving

The worst part of moving is putting breakable things into boxes. Luckily since we’re just moving them inside of our house, we haven’t had to do that. I’ve been moving things by hand! The part of moving that I really enjoy is the cleansing process of getting rid of all the stuff you hold onto for a rainy day. (Spoiler alert: you don’t need to be moving to go through this process!)

Here’s me upleveling my chapstick game and tossing out some chapsticks I’ve kept for probably 10 years even though they’ve been replaced by new Beautycounter lip products that I love 100% more!

The universe is telling me to get on out

If you’ve watched my Instagram stories, you’ll know that I dropped a smoothie in the kitchen that splattered EVERYWHERE. On the ceiling, cabinets, and across the room. It was insane. And then two days later, our pantry door shelf randomly tipped over and shattered glass and spilled cinnamon all over. I think the house is telling me it’s time to leave : )

This is your last chance to enroll! Learn all about it here.

Cultivate Calm

The first week of Bloom is all about cultivating calm in your life and prioritizing self care and rest. Here’s how I’ve been doing that – bath time with my favorite self care products! I am obsessed with the Colleen Rothschild Tahitian Monoi Body Scrub for my bod, and the Beautycounter AHA Mask for my face. And these makeup eraser pads are my favorite find of 2022.

Also calm and soothing, this new design in our driveway that Thomas and Birch created! They used painters tape to make the design.

Crafting

Inside we have been crafting like crazy too! We made these paper bag puppets and these (similar) painted magnets. Birch LOVES arts and crafts!

Lunch Date

Maze and I went out on a lunch date when he didn’t have school on President’s Day (Birch did). We went to Dairy Market for burgers (and salads) and then had sprinkle ice cream for dessert.

Overnight Oats By The Week

Overnight oats are one of my favorite breakfasts, but I have learned that 8pm is not the time I am thinking about making them. So I threw together a large batch to help myself from whenever I wanted some. They’ve been great for a snack too!

The Mix:
  • 1 cup quick oats (this is all we have, but I think I’m a quick oat convert because they were so creamy!)
  • 1.25 cups milk
  • 1 cup greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • Sprinkle cinnamon (before it fell on the floor)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • Frozen strawberries (I actually loved the texture of these!)

Apparently I’ve been eating lunches out of the same containers! Haha. I made an egg scramble with leftover veg and put it back in the container to eat. This is why I don’t share my meals that often anymore – long gone are the days with a pretty bowl and placemat LOL.

We got these glass containers last summer and they have been FAB!

My other favorite lunch is a Daily Harvest flatbread! Aka pizza with a veggie-based crust. I always add cheese on top! ICYMI, Daily Harvest isn’t only smoothies these days. They have everything from soups to pizzas to harvest bowls and overnight oats. Get $25 off with my link!

Seas The Day

Loving these frozen salmon cakes from Whole Foods! If you want to DIY, here are two recipes using canned salmon: Salmon Quinoa Burgers and Maryland-style Salmon Cakes. I had mine over a massaged kale caesar

Shoulder Update

I’m happy to say that my shoulder blade issue is feeling a lot better! I’ve been getting dry needling with Amy at ACAC Physical Therapy that has helped a lot. I’ve also been modifiying my weight lifting overhead for months now. And the best discovery from my chiropractor (Dr. Tate Huffman) is this trigger point cane. The feeling that I have craved throughout this whole shoulder ordeal is for someone to push DOWN on my trap. With this cane I can do it myself! (I only use the top half.)

Finding Bigfoot

Shout out to this book that is our current favorite! It’s just like Where’s Waldo but with Bigfoot! I think it’s even harder than Waldo because colors are at a minimum (Bigfoot is white). Birch LOVES it and can spot him in 1 second every time. It’s a great gift for a 3-6 age child.

Rail –> Pillow Lump

We just took Birch’s side rail off his bed in anticipation of our move. I just have a lumbar pillow under the sheet now as he continues to learn not to roll off. So far, so good. It’s so much easier to get in and out of his bed now!

Hope you have a snuggly day!
