My January Reset & How to Realign with Your Goals

After the holidays, it can be tempting to jump into a harsh ‘cleanse’. Please remember that the body is incredibly intelligent and is detoxifying all the time! Sometimes it just needs a little bit of extra support. 

This time of year, I personally love focusing on targeted supplements and foods for liver health. These assist with the body’s natural detoxification processes without any drastic measures. 

After an incredibly social and busy period, my focus is also on realigning my goals, settling into a balanced routine and taking time to do the activities that make me feel truly good. 

I’ve put together my top tips for supporting yourself this new year, plus one of my favourite recipes!

Tips for a Supported New Year: 

  1. Set realistic goals: Write down your top priorities for the year and break them into small, achievable steps. I love making a vision board to stay inspired.
  2. Be kind to yourself: As you settle back into routine, celebrate your small wins. Aim for progress over perfection. This year, choose to support yourself with sustainable wellness habits that truly last.
  3. Practice mindfulness daily: Incorporate meditation, journaling or mindful breathing to centre yourself after a very social period. Try the JSHealth App for free meditations and guided breathwork!
  4. Limit screen time: Create space for mental clarity by taking regular digital detox breaks. I love deleting my apps over the weekend and aim to switch off my social media by 8pm each night. 
  5. Support liver health naturally: After a season of indulging, incorporate foods like leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables and citrus fruits to assist the body’s natural detoxification processes. Consider targeted supplements with milk thistle or fennel seed (consult your health practitioner first) for targeted support.
  6. Stay hydrated: Start your day with a glass of warm water and lemon to kickstart digestion. Enjoy your coffee after your first meal to reduce the body’s stress response and stick to the JSHealth way – no more than 1-2 coffees, before midday!
  7. Prioritise movement you enjoy: Whether it’s yoga, pilates, walking or working out from home, choose forms of exercise that make you feel good. Try our range of movement videos (some as little as 10 minutes) on the app.
  8. Fuel with balanced meals: I feel my best when I nourish myself with a balanced plate. Incorporate lean proteins, healthy fats, colourful veggies and wholegrain carbohydrates to sustain energy levels. Balance is key.
  9. Practice gratitude: Write down three things you’re grateful for every day to shift your perspective.
  10. Create a self-care ritual: Set aside time for activities that bring you joy, like reading, swimming, play with your kids or spending time in nature. The ‘little things’ make all the difference.
