Here’s a bit of life lately including a Wicked party, movie premiere, spring sports, and lots of real food.
If you haven’t seen Wicked yet, this is your sign it’s time! I hosted a Wicked watch party with a pink and green star theme. Birch got into it, too! He was a big fan of the green ring pops. One of my friends hadn’t seen it yet and said he “wasn’t a musicals guy” and afterward said “Ok Kath, that was really good!” Made my year.
Fabi and Sean both came dressed as the Wizard! Gus was rooting for the animals!
I turned the family room green with these electric candles and these twinkle lights. It was perfect! Can you find Birch?!
Les Miserables
Also on the theater theme, I went to see Les Miserables at Charlottesville High School. It was so well done! I don’t think I’ve ever seen Les Mis live, and it is now one of my favorites! The students did an outstanding job, especially given how many rehearsals they supposedly missed due to snow days. I’m looking forward to going to more spring musicals at the other high schools this spring.
- Western Albemarle HS: Legally Blonde, April 10-13
- Monticello HS: Chicago, May 8-11
- Albemarle HS: Sweeney Todd, TBD
The Slasher Nurse
And back to movies – our friend Sean’s first movie premiered last month: The Slasher Nurse. They did a special showing in Cville for all of the locals. I’m not sure when it will be ready for streaming, but I’ll let you all know!
Here are some of the cast and crew at the showing!
Before the movie, we went to Zocalo to celebrate. Of course I got the famous pepper.
And afterwards we went to Whiskey Jar for their Campfire Old Fashioneds! SO GOOD!
Spring Sports
Does skiing count as a spring sport?! We always forget to go in Dec/Jan and then fit a few trips into the late winter / early spring. Thomas and Mazen did a day together last month, and then Birch felt left out so Thomas took him for his very first ski day the week after. He did very well in ski school and then went with Thomas on the bunny hill a few times (I didn’t go due to soccer / work stuff, but next time!).
Spring soccer has started for both Birch and I!
We have a few new players to our team which brought a host of spectators! So much fun!
This means I can’t walk on Monday mornings : ) These Green Compass bath soaks and the Hypervice are saving my legs.
Happy Bday DA!
Everyone wear green for Destiny!
We celebrated that night at Bebedero!
BINGO!
How excited does B look for his first dab bingo?! Raising money for the Building Goodness Foundation via Random Row!
Cumbre
Shout out to my friend Juan Pablo and his amazing Argentine bakery and coffee shop, Cumbre. If you haven’t been – GO! The coffees come with a side of sparkling water and a cookie. And the empanadas are so good!
Mom Life
I have spent HOURS helping the boys dig minifigs out of their loose lego bins to make two of these boards. It was actually kind of a soothing project and I was sad when we found almost all of them. They are much better off standing in rows than in pieces in bins.
Let’s hear it for warm weather!!!!!
I have a full blog post coming soon, but Mazen got a new full-size bed! We got the mattress from Naturepedic – the Serenade Organic Hybrid Mattress in cushion-firm. The bed is the Emery Platform bed from PB kids. He loves it!
My Trader Joe’s buddy. Too big for the baby seat, but too little to want to walk. He was buried!
Spa Day
Mom break at the Keswick Spa. The best spa around!
Kath Eats Real Food
And finally – some real food meals!
